Today I mark my 7th days as PM.
I can't really say that I am fully up to speed, but heck, how should i?
So far, I notice that I will spend a lot of time trying to learn from different departments and bringing their minds together and getting everything out of their minds in a structured way that they are not even familiar with.
On the other side, dependencies on me. Developers, designers and also sales, marketing and last but not least, the CEO are on my back for different things. Either what's the status or getting new requirements. I am basically the bottleneck on every front - whoop whoop.
Going forward I definitely need to find a way to make myself more redundant and also empowering colleagues more, providing feedback to their work style and being a manager. Exciting.
Not only do I need to bring processes in place for others to not be so dependant on me, but I also need to establish processes for myself to be more efficient (or get some things done at all). This includes for example organizing a backlog, continuous structured customer feedback, more use case/persona based work, how to prioritize features, frameworks and tools of PMs.
That's going to be my gem.
Owning that, I will be fine doing whatever after which is exiting.
Onward!
