Why you shouldn't care about being wrong when blogging

Fyi I've written about a similar topic here.

Despite where you have an idea from and whatever motivation you might have to write, one of the barriers for people not starting to blog is the fact that they feel exposed and vulnerable.

Therefore, they feel this unconscious but deep strong need of being right.

Let's zoom out. What is a blog post actually? It is your words to whatever topic. And people all around the world can read your thought. If you have comments enabled, they might even start a asynchronous dialog.

Let's consider yourself at an evening with people you might not know that well, but the conversation comes to a topic you care about. You think you have something to add to this conversation and start talking. Everyone is engaged and the conversation has a great inspiring dynamic. Everyone having different views and background towards the topic facilitates that some get the opportunity to change someone else' mind and others an opportunity to learn and improve in their thinking.

Transfer this mindset to blog post. Yes, it is a digital record of yourself and your thoughts and your mind/opinion/knowledge might have changed and you got smarter along the way. For example through a conversation. It sure can happen that you actually don't second your previous standpoint. So, yes, your opinion might be wrong, but not as long as you don't know it is. Through engaging in the asynchronous online exchange you facilitate and participate this learning process for yourself and others.

If i lowers the pressure you can also share your thoughts anonymous - like I do here. And look at the situation, you are reading my thoughts.

Get on the other side and let us know what you think.
